10 Absolutely Easy Steps To Do Pedicure At Home

A pedicure at home can be so relaxing and satisfying for you. Pedicure is cleaning your legs and feet by removing excess dirt and oil. It mainly focuses on the feet. Our feet tend to get dry, rough, and cracked heels. So it is crucial to take care of your feet. You should do a pedicure once a month. You can go to a salon or even do it at home with some simple steps.

Today, I will share some easy steps to do a pedicure at home. The essentials you need are a Nail cutter, Nail filer, Cuticle pusher, Nail paint remover, and Pumice stone.

Time to remove the nail paint

The first and most important step is to remove the nail paint from your toenails. You have to apply the remover even if you do not have any nail paint applied to your nails. The nail paint remover also helps to remove oil and dirt from the nails. Using a cotton ball, rub your nails with some acetone-free nail paint remover.

Trim and give a shape to your nails

You can trim your nails if they are long. It is okay if you don’t want to cut your nails. You can even shape them in the desired shape. You can give them a round shape, square shape, or something of your choice.

Push the cuticle

Pushing the cuticles is an important step. But you have to be careful while doing it. You have to slowly push the cuticle using a cuticle pusher at the back of your nails. Do not push harder you might get hurt. Cutting the cuticle is not a good option as the cuticle helps to protect the nails and the surrounding skin.

Soak your feet in hot water

This is the most relaxing step of a pedicure. Take some hot water or lukewarm water in a bucket. You can add some body wash or essential oil to have a spa-like experience. Dip your feet and legs in hot water for about 10-15 minutes. Make sure that the temperature of the water is around 30°C to 35°C

Use a pumice stone

As soon as you take your feet out of the hot water, use a pumice stone. Rub the pumice stone gently over the feet especially, near your heel area. Make sure you rub it slowly and only for 2-3 minutes. Pumice stone helps to remove the dry and dead skin from the feet. Don’t rub your feet every day with the pumice stone. Excessive rubbing through the stone can be problematic to your feet.

Exfoliate the feet

This is an optional step, but I love to do it. You have already used a pumice stone to remove the dry and dead skin. You do not need to exfoliate further because exfoliation also helps to remove the dead skin. If you do not have a pumice stone at home, then you can exfoliate your feet. Add equal quantities of coffee and honey in a bowl and add a few drops of coconut oil. Apply this paste and rub it gently for 1 – 2 minutes and wash it off. You can even use store-bought scrub.

Apply a Detan pack

Most people face the problem of tanning on their feet. Here, I will suggest you a foot mask for de-tan. Mix 1 teaspoon of chickpea flour (gram flour) and curd. Gram flour and curd both have de-tanning properties. Apply this paste and keep it on the feet for 10- 15 minutes. Wash the pack with cold water and pat dry using a towel. You can apply this foot mask once a month. You can even use store-bought foot masks or ubtan masks.

Take care of the cuticles

You should apply cuticle oil or cuticle cream. Cuticle oil helps to nourish your nails and provides moisturization to them. You can even apply coconut oil to your nails. It helps to make them stronger.

Massaging the feet

The official last step of a pedicure is massaging. You can use any massaging cream to massage your entire feet for about 5 – 10 minutes. You can use your daily moisturizer or foot cream to massage the feet. The natural massaging cream would be Aloe Vera gel. Just take some Aloe Vera gel and gently apply it all over your feet. After massaging, do not remove the cream or gel. Keep it on your feet as a moisturizer.

Apply the nail paint

This is an additional step and my favorite step. Apply a base coat. Just take your favorite nail paint and apply it. Lastly, apply a top coat and finish it off.
